Double ended data loss testing – checks a cable for its’ data transmission
stability by connecting both ends to the DMXDart’s DMX input and output and
transmitting 250Kbps data over it.
•
Single ended loopback data loss testing – same as double ended data
loss testing, but it allows for testing of permanently installed cable through the
use of a loopback connector.
Double ended continuity testing
From Main Menu Select, choose 1- Transmit Functions.
Select 5 - Misc Tools
Press 1 - Cable Test.
The double ended continuity test will be displayed:

Connect one end of a DMX cable to the DMXDart’s input and the other to the
DMXDart’s output. The display will change automatically as the real time test is
performed:

Incorrect connections, shorts, and opens will be displayed as an Err on the third
line of the display.
Double-ended data test
Pressing the Ý and Þ arrow keys switches the cable test mode.
Press the Ý key. The display will change to:

During this test the DMXDart counts packets of data that have been transmitted
and received. If the DMXDart detects data corruption on either of the pairs, an
Err! Will appear beside the problem pair. (2-3) Denotes pins 2 and 3 of the DMX
cable, or pair #1, and (4-5) pins 4 and 5 – pair #2.
The error message is held until CLR is pressed to reset the test.
