What are chloramines?
•
Chloramines are a combination of
chlorine and ammonia, and are used as
a disinfectant to treat drinking water.
Why chloramine versus chlorine
treatment?
•
Chloramines provide longer-lasting water
treatment as water moves through
distribution systems to end-users.
•
Due to stricter government regulation,
specifically the US EPA’s Stage 2 Disin-
fectant Byproduct Rules, it’s expected
that up to 55% of US municipalities will
employ chloramines by 2012.
