Templates
Templates
A template defines the types available for annotating (logging) an asset that will be
available to the user. It defines which types can be added as a record, and which types can
be added as events. Templates remove the need to build custom desktop layouts for
annotating logging different things:

Alternates
Alternates allow specified fields within a schema to have alternative values. They are
organized into groups so that different alternates can be used in different schemas.
example alternate groups:
• Rights: Web, Mobile, VOD.
• Languages: English, French, German, Spanish.
Creating Types
Types are created from the Admin workspace of the SmartClient itself. In order to be able to
create business metadata categories your Windows domain user account that is registered
with the iTX System must be made a member of the Opus Administrator Group via the iTX
Security Tool. See the iTX System Administrator Guide for details.
To create a type:
1 On the SmartClient dashboard, click Admin widget
. The Admin workspace
appears.
If you are member of the Opus Administrator Group, but do not have the widget
already installed on your dashboard, follow the steps described in See
2 Click the Types Editor button
.
3 In the Types Editor, click the New button at the bottom.
4 The Create new Type pop-up dialog appears.
