Enabling CDP on the edge switch
For VRM to obtain the access location of a VM, you must enable CDP on the edge switch in a VMware
virtualization environment.
In this example, the edge switch is an HP Comware-based device that supports CDP.
# Enable CDP on the edge switch.

Verifying ESXi host availability in VRM
1. Click the Resource tab, and then select Virtual Resource Management > Virtual Network View.
ESXi host A (192.168.5.21) is displayed in the view.

2. Click the FTP Server name link or IP address link. You can see that VRM has obtained the access
switch and access interface of the VM.
