BACnet/IP
A standard CAT-5E cable with an RJ-45 (Ethernet) jack is to be connected to port 3,4, or 5 on the
gateway. Refer to wiring diagrams in this manual.
Cable Shielding
The cable’s shield should be connected to the shield terminal at the BMS system only, and not the
Links 2 module.
As well the cable shield should be connected at the lead unit only and not at subsequent units.
For long chains the shield would appear as:
Unit 2 to Master - Shield connected at master only.
Unit 3 to Unit 2 - Shield connected at unit 2 only.
Unit 4 to Unit 3 - Shield connected at unit 3 only.
And so forth.
Gateway Configuration
Links2 is configured for each protocol at the factory, prior to final testing. Baud rates are adjusted
to the following values by default:
Table 3: Baud Rates
Protocol
Default Baud Rates
BACnet MS/TP
38.4 kbps
BACnet / IP
10BaseT
Johnson N2
9.6 kbps
LonWorks
38.4 kbps
Links2 packages require network addresses in order to communicate with a BMS system. In most
cases addresses information is factory configured during final testing. If the humidifiers were
ordered before BMS address information was available, Links2 would be figured to a default
address. Please contact the factory for the configuration tools to allow field modification of the
address parameters.
