Instructions for use
Description
OptraFine is a 3-step polishing system with diamond particles suitable for polishing
dental ceramic materials to a high lustre during clinical procedures. OptraFine consists
of the following four components:
• Light-blue diamond finishers (F) in flame, cup and disc shapes
• Dark-blue diamond polishers (P) in flame, cup and disc shapes
• Nylon brushes for high-gloss polishing (HP), suitable for use in conjunction with the
• Diamond polishing paste for high-gloss polishing (HP)
Composition
• The finishers and polishers contain synthetic rubber, diamond granulate and titani-
um dioxide. The shanks are made of stainless steel.
• The nylon brushes consist of nylon fibres. The shanks are also made of stainless
steel.
• The diamond polishing paste contains diamond dust with a particle size ranging
from 2 to 4 µm in an emulsion of glycerine, sodium lauryl sulphate and propylene
glycol.
Indications
High-gloss polishing of dental ceramic restorations
Contraindications
The products should not be used if a patient is known to be allergic to any of the
ingredients of the polishing instruments or polishing paste.
Application
First, the surface of the ceramic restoration is finished and smoothed with the
OptraFine F finishers under water spray. The subsequent polishing procedure is per-
formed with the OptraFine P polishers also with water spray. For final high-lustre pol-
ishing, the OptraFine HP nylon brushes are used together with the diamond polishing
paste without water spray. Prior to polishing, diamond polishing paste is dispensed
into the cavity created by the circle of bristles. Subsequently, the paste is spread onto
the restoration surface with the brush. Any polish or grinding residue can be removed
with water spray.
Diamond finishers and polishers:
• Rotary speed: 10,000 up to max. 15,000 rpm
• Only use with copious water spray (> 50ml/min)
• Use without paste
• Immerse the finishers and polishers in an instrument cleaning bath for max. 1 hour
• Sterilize the finishers and polishers in the autoclave at 134 °C/275 °F
Brushes/polishing paste:
• Rotary speed: 7,000 up to max. 10,000 rpm
• Use without water spray
• Immerse the brushes in an instrument cleaning bath for max. 1 hour
• Sterilize brushes in the autoclave at 134 °C/275 °F
Rotary speed
• The recommended and maximum admissible rotary speeds indicated in the
Instructions for Use and on the packaging must be observed. They must not be
exceeded.
• The recommended and maximum admissible rotary speed is dependent on the pol-
ishers or polishing system used and may differ from system to system.
• The polishing instruments tend to vibrate if the maximum admissible rotary speed
is exceeded. This may lead to the destruction of the polishing instrument, deforma-
tion of the shank and/or fracture of the instrument and thus poses a potential dan-
ger to the user/practice team and the patient.
Warning
Failure to observe the maximum admissible rotary speed results in a height-
ened safety risk.
Proper use
• Use only turbines and straight/contra-angle handpieces which are technically and
hygienically impeccable and regularly serviced and cleaned.
• The handpiece and turbine drives must run smoothly.
• The instruments must be correctly inserted and secured.
• Polishing should be performed with a slight rotary motion to avoid the creation of
grooves
• Jamming/leveraging should be avoided to reduce the risk of instrument fracture.

• Deformed instruments that do not run smoothly should cease to be used.
• From the point of view of safety, protective goggles and breathing protection
should always be worn in order to avoid inhaling grinding dust. Efficient dust
evacuation must be ensured during the polishing procedure.
Warning
Improper use may lead to poor polishing results and a heightened health risk.
This product must only be used by skilled persons.
Contact pressure
High contact pressure during polishing will not produce an improved polishing result,
but will lead to the increased generation of heat and accelerated wear of the polish-
ing instrument. A mean contact pressure of approx. 2 N is sufficient.
Warning
When polishing intraorally, excessive pressure needs to be avoided in order
to prevent overheating and eventually pulp damage. In extreme cases, instru-
ment fracture may result if too much pressure is applied, which can lead to
injuries.
Water cooling
In order to avoid unwanted heat generation on the tooth surface, sufficient water
cooling (at least 50 ml/min) needs to be ensured. In addition, any residue produced
during polishing is rinsed off by the water spray.
Warning
Insufficient water cooling may lead to irreversible damage of the tooth and
the adjacent tissues.
Storage, cleaning, disinfection and sterilization
• The polishing instruments should be stored in the original packaging at room tem-
perature and protected from dust, moisture, pressure and contamination.
• Before using the polishing instruments on the patient for the first time, they must
be disinfected or sterilized.
• After having used the polishing instruments in the mouth of the patient, they must
be cleaned immediately and disinfected or sterilized.
• When manipulating contaminated instruments, protective clothing and gloves
should be worn.
• Care needs to be taken that the selected disinfectant is suitable for the disinfection
of finishers/polishers/nylon brushes and that the instruments are disinfected cor-
rectly according to the instructions of the manufacturer. Please refer to the instruc-
tions of the manufacturer for details on recommended use, immersion time and
suitability of disinfection and cleaning agents. Aggressive substances, excessively
long immersion times or incorrect dosage may damage the instruments.
• Sterilization must be done in the vacuum autoclave for 20 minutes at 134 °C or
according to RKI guidelines. A temperature of 150 °C should not be exceeded.
• The products are not suitable for sterilization in the chemiclave or steam disinfec-
tor.
Warning
The suitability of the selected method for the disinfection/ sterilization of the
respective instrument must be verified in advance.
Storage and shelf life
• Storage temperature 2 - 28 °C/36 - 82 °F
• Expiry date: See imprint on label
• Immediately seal polishing paste after use.
• Sterilizable in the autoclave at the temperature indicated

Beschreibung
OptraFine ist ein 3-Schritt-Poliersystem mit Diamantpartikeln für die klinische
Hochglanz-Politur von dentalen Keramikmaterialien. OptraFine besteht aus den
folgenden vier Komponenten:
• hellblaue Diamant-Finierer (F) in den Formen Flamme, Kelch und Scheibe
• dunkelblaue Diamant-Polierer (P) in den Formen Flamme, Kelch und Scheibe
• Nylonbürstchen für die Hochglanz-Politur (HP) in Kombination mit der
• Diamant-Polierpaste für die Hochglanz-Politur (HP)
Zusammensetzungen
• Die Finierer und Polierer bestehen aus Kunstkautschuk, Diamantgranulat und
Titandioxid. Die Schäfte bestehen aus Edelstahl.
• Die Nylonbürstchen bestehen aus Nylonfasern, ihre Schäfte ebenfalls aus Edelstahl
• Die Diamant-Polierpaste enthält Diamantstaub mit einer Körnung von 2 - 4 µm in
einer Emulsion bestehend aus Glycerin, Sodiumlaurylsulfat und Propylenglykol.

Kontraindikationen
Bei bekannter Allergie auf Inhaltsstoffe der Polierinstrumente und Paste ist auf die
Anwendung zu verzichten
Anwendungshinweise
Zum Finieren und Glätten von Keramikoberflächen werden zuerst die OptraFine
Finierer „F“ mit Wasserspray eingesetzt. Anschliessend erfolgt die Politur mit dem
Polierer „P“, ebenfalls mit Wasserspray.
Die abschliessende Hochglanz-Politur wird mit der Diamant-Polierpaste und dem
Nylonbürstchen HP ohne den Einsatz von Wasserspray durchgeführt. Dabei wird die
Diamant-Polierpaste zuerst in den Hohlraum des Nylonbürstchens eingebracht und vor
der Bearbeitung mit dem Nylonbürstchen auf der zu polierenden Oberfläche verteilt.
Die entstandenen Polierrückstände können mit Wasserspray entfernt werden.
Diamant-Finierer und -Polierer:
• Drehzahl: 10'000 - max. 15'000 rpm
• Nur mit reichlich Wasserspray (> 50ml/min) anwenden
• Anwendung ohne Paste
• Polierer maximal 1 h in das Desinfektionsbad einlegen
• Finierer und Polierer bei 134°C / 275°F autoklavieren

Drehzahlanweisungen
• Beachten Sie die empfohlenen und maximal zulässigen Drehzahlen in der Gebrauchs-
information und auf der Verpackung. Diese darf nicht überschritten werden.
• Die empfohlenen und auch maximal zulässigen Drehzahlen hängen vom jeweiligen
Polierer bzw. Poliersystem ab und unterscheiden sich z.T. voneinander.
• Die Polierer neigen bei Überschreitung der maximal zulässigen Drehzahl zu
Schwingungen. Dies kann zur Zerstörung des Polierers, Verbiegung des Schafts
und/oder zum Instrumentenbruch führen, d.h. zu einer Gefährdung des Anwenders
bzw. des Praxisteams und des Patienten.
Warnhinweis
Das Nichtbeachten der maximal zulässigen Drehzahl führt zu einem erhöhten
Sicherheitsrisiko.
Sachgemässe Anwendung
• Es ist darauf zu achten, nur technisch und hygienisch einwandfreie, gewartete und
gereinigte Turbinen, sowie Hand- und Winkelstücke einzusetzen.
• Akkurater Antriebsrundlauf von Winkelstück und Turbine ist notwendig.
• Die Instrumente müssen korrekt eingespannt werden.
• Mit leicht rotierenden Bewegungen polieren, um Einkerbungen zu vermeiden.
• Verkanten oder Hebeln ist zu vermeiden, um das Risiko eines Instrumentenbruches
zu verringern.
• Verbogene bzw. nicht rund laufende Instrumente dürfen nicht mehr verwendet
werden
• Aus Sicherheitsaspekten ist grundsätzlich eine Schutzbrille und ein Atemschutz zu
tragen, damit kein Polierstaub eingeatmet wird. Während der Anwendung ist für eine
effiziente Absaugung zu sorgen.
Warnhinweis
Unsachgemäße Anwendung führt zu schlechten Polierergebnissen und
erhöhtem Risiko. Die Anwendung dieses Produktes darf nur durch qualifizierte
Personen erfolgen.
Andruckkräfte
Hohe Andruckkräfte führen nicht zu einem besseren Polierergebnis, sondern erhöhen
die Wärmeentwicklung und beschleunigen den Verschleiss des Polierkörpers. Eine mitt-
lere Andruckkraft von ca. 2 N ist ausreichend.
Warnhinweise
Überhöhte Andruckkräfte sind zu vermeiden, um bei intraoraler Anwendung
eine Überhitzung und letztlich eine Schädigung der Pulpa auszuschliessen.
Im Extremfall kann es auch zum Instrumentenbruch kommen, was Verletzun-
gen verursachen kann.
Wasserkühlung
Zur Vermeidung unerwünschter Wärmeentwicklung am Zahn ist eine ausreichende
Wasserkühlung (mindestens 50 ml/min) sicherzustellen. Zudem werden die während
der Politur entstandenen Rückstände durch das Wasserspray entfernt.
Warnhinweis
Bei unzureichender Wasserkühlung kann es zu irreversibler Schädigung des
Zahnes und des umliegenden Gewebes kommen.
Aufbewahrung, Reinigung, Desinfektion und Sterilisation
• Die Aufbewahrung von Polierern sollte in der Originalverpackung bei Zimmer-
temperatur staub-, feuchtigkeits-, druck- und (re-)kontaminationsgeschützt
erfolgen.
• Vor dem erstmaligen Einsatz am Patienten müssen die Polierer desinfiziert und
sterilisiert werden.
• Nach dem Einsatz im Mund müssen die Polierer unverzüglich gereinigt und des-
infiziert bzw. sterilisiert werden.
• Bei der Aufbereitung von kontaminierten Instrumenten sind grundsätzlich
Schutzkleidung und Handschuhe zu tragen.
• Es ist darauf zu achten, dass das gewählte Desinfektionsmittel für die Polierer
geeignet ist und dass eine korrekte Desinfektion der Polierer, gemäss den
Herstellerangaben, erfolgt. Die entsprechenden Benutzungshinweise, Einwirkdauer
und Eignung von Desinfek-tions- und Reinigungssubstanzen sind den jeweiligen
Hersteller-angaben zu entnehmen. Aggressive Mittel, zu lange Einwirkdauer oder
falsche Dosierung können die Polierer schädigen.
• Sterilisation im Vakuum-Autoklav, bei 134 °C, 20 Minuten oder nach den RKI-
Richtlinien - 150 °C nicht überschreiten.
• Die Produkte sind nicht für die Sterilisation im Chemiklav oder Heißluftdesinfektor
geeignet.
Warnhinweis
Bei der Desinfektion und Sterilisation ist unbedingt darauf zu achten, dass
das gewählte Verfahren für das jeweilige Instrument geeignet ist.
Lager und Aufbewahrungshinweise
• Lagerung bei 2 - 28°C
• Verfalldatum: Siehe Aufdruck auf Etikett
• Polierpaste nach Gebrauch sofort verschliessen
• sterilisierbar im Dampf-Sterilisator (Autoklav) bei der angegebenen
Temperatur
