TPH TROUBLESHOOTING
SYMPTOM PROBLEM CORRECTION
Flywheel won’t turn. • Flywheel is jammed.
• Belt damaged or off pulleys. • Immediately stop tractor.
• Clear obstruction.
• Check pulley alignment. Adjust
if necessary.
• Replace belt or reinstall if it has
come off pulleys.
Belt burns. • Overloading machine.
• Flywheel jammed. • Process material at a slower
rate.
• See above section.
Chipping action seems too slow. • PTO speed must be running at
540 RPM.
• Damaged belt.
• Check tractor owner’s manual
for PTO adjustment.
• See above section.
When chipping, log seems to
vibrate excessively & “hammers”
hands. • The knife is dull.
• Incorrect gap setting. • Remove knife & sharpen or
replace per knife instructions.
• Adjust gap as per instructions.
Chipper knife is hitting wear plate. • The gap between the knife and
wear plate is set incorrectly.
• Adjust gap as per instructions.
