An EBCDIC hex dump lets you see what the interface receives in the host
packet. This is useful in determining whether a problem is printer related
or packet related. To run this diagnostic, turn off the printer and set
rotary switch to "9". When the printer is on, the packet prints in hex
format.
The buffer of the EBCDIC hex dump is divided into three lines:
INQUIRED 11:10 AM
(Line 1)
FAABBABAA11FF223221AAFF
(Line 2)
08D04814300C01141000CC0
(Line 3)
Line 1 is the character representation of the code point.
Line 2 is the first nibble of the EBCDIC character.
Line 3 is the second nibble of the EBCDIC character.
In the above dump, the last character M is represented by an A on line
two and a C on line three making an EBCDIC AC.
