UPC
The Universal Product Code is the US-American counterpart of the European
Article Numbering Code (EAN). UPC and EAN are compatible.
In UPC, each character is represented by 7 modules which can be either
black or white. Simultaneously, every encoded character consists of two bars
and two spaces – UPC is thus a (7.2) code.

No clear ratio because several bar intensities are used.
