The ZED Test Shield
The ZED Test Shield, shown in Figure 10, is available as a part of the Zilog Educational
Platform Kit, and serves as a tool for testing all available GPIO pins on the Platform. As
its name implies, this shield is designed merely for testing purposes, and does not offer the
stackable feature that the other ZED shields do.
The ZED Test Shield’s main purpose is to verify that every available GPIO pin is working
properly by each having the capability of turning an LED on when High, and off when
Low. A schematic diagram of the ZED Test Shield can be found in
Appendix A , which
begins on page 48.
Global GPIO Control
The setpins command in the Platform’s command shell is used for testing all GPIO
pins. These pins are controlled with the following on/off command:
setpins Px xx
