This IS a strong stitch because as its name
implies, it makes three short stitches where
the normal zig-zag makes only one.
For this reason it is highly recommended for
overcasting all types of fabrics
It IS also ideal for mending tears, patching,
sewing towelling, patch-work and attaching
flat elastic.
MENDING A TEAR
Place beginning of tear under presser foot
and sew, ensuring stitches catch either side
of tear. When repairing three-cornered tears,
stitch down each side to the centre.
OVERCASTING
Place fabric under the presser foot so that the
needle just sews over the raw edge — see
also page 24.
