The Stitch and Its Uses
The Shell Slitch is formed by sewing a
blind hem over folded fabric. Several
rows of shell stitching are called shell
tucks.
Shel! stitching cart be used to finish
hems, sleeve and neck openings.
Shell tucking can be used to create
scalloped
tucks
on
blouses
and
lingerie.
Here's How
1. For best effect:

set the stitch length as you
desire.

you may need to tighten the
top thread tension slightly.
—
allow the needle to just clear
the folded edge ot the fabric
when it zigzags.
2. if you sew rows ol shell stitches,
space the rows 1/2" apart.
You can sew shell stitch on knits or soft
silky wovens in any direction.
