SeaLand TW Discharge Pump User Manual
SeaLand Hardware

Before installing the pump, you must consider the following:
1.
The pump should be installed horizontally (motor on top) on floor, deck or shelf. The
pump can be installed vertically (with discharge side up) or on its side, but may operate at
reduced efficiency.
2. The pump should be mounted above the holding tank to prevent waste overflow during
maintenance or repair. (See diagram.) When space prohibits installing the pump above
the holding tank, you should provide a loop in the hose that extends to the top of the
holding tank between the tank outlet and the pump inlet. This will reduce overflow during
maintenance or repair.
3. Vessels with an underwater discharge seacock or thru-hull must have a vented or anti-
siphon loop installed well above the water line between the pump outlet and the seacock or
thru-hull fitting. The vented loop should be plumbed with hose to a thru-hull fitting well above
the water line.
4. When the TW Pump is replacing a macerator-type discharge pump, you will need the 1.5-in.
x 1-in. hose coupling provided. This coupling utilizes the 1-in. seacock already installed.
Install the hose coupling in the discharge line
at least 5 feet away from the pump outlet to
prevent possible plugging due to the size reduction. You will need 5 feet (1.52 m) of 1.5-in.
hose to run from the pump to the hose coupling.
Caution: This pump is not for use as a VacuFlush toilet vacuum pump. Damage to the pump and system
would result. When pump is used to discharge SanX or TDX systems, follow electrical and plumbing
instructions in your SanX or TDX owner’s manual. When using this pump with a holding tank, see illustration
below. Pumping against a closed seacock will result in damage to the duckbill valves.

Important: The TW-Pump inlet and outlet fittings have left-hand threads. Be certain that fittings have not
loosened during hose installation. To tighten fittings, turn counterclockwise. To loosen, turn clockwise.
Electrical Wiring:
Wire the pump as shown in the wiring diagram.
Use the multistranded copper wire. Protect the
wiring by installing grommets or other protective
device at holes and sharp edges. Proper fuse or
circuit breaker size is extremely important for pump
and wire protection. Overfusing this pump will result in warranty invalidation.
Caution: USCG Regulations allow overboard discharge of untreated sewage when the vessel is beyond
the 3-mile limit. However, the overboard discharge seacock or shut-off valve must be secured in the
closed position while operating within the 3-mile limit. Use of a padlock, heavy tape, non-releasable
wire tie or removal of the valve handle would be considered adequate securing of the valve.
