SHOOTING A MOVIE
• You can perform digital zoom while shooting a movie by
pressing [
]. Optical zoom is not available while shooting a
movie. To use optical zoom for a movie, use [
] to zoom as
required first and then press [
] to start recording.
• The effects of camera movement in an image become more
pronounced when you shoot close up or a large zoom factor.
Because of this, use of a tripod is recommended under these
conditions.
• When the subject is outside the camera’s focus range,
focusing is not possible and the image will be out of focus.
• Auto Focus and Macro Focus become fixed focus while
shooting a movie (pages 122, 123).
• The following operations are performed automatically to
protect the camera against damage whenever the camera
temperature exceeds a preset level during movie recording.
– Monitor screen brightness setting changes to 0.
– “ALERT” appears on the monitor screen and recording
stops automatically.
If this happens, turn off the camera and wait until it cools
down before trying to use it again.
With Short Movie, pressing [
] will shoot a movie that starts a
few seconds before [
] is pressed (first part) and ends a few
seconds after it is pressed (second part). You can specify how
long (in seconds) you want the first part and the second part of
the Short Movie to be.
• Since a few seconds of action before [
] is pressed are
recorded, Short Movie is a good way to make sure you don’t
miss the action of kids or other active subjects.
• You can also use MOTION PRINT (page 182) to extract still
images of Short Movie scenes.
