BURNS
Cool the area affected with copious amounts of fresh water for at least 5 minutes. The water
should run over the injury and cover it completely without any pressure being applied.
Apply one or more sterile dressings to the burn.
If the victim’s clothes are on fire, roll the person in a blanket. Lie the victim down on a clean
sheet, with their head horizontal and their feet slightly raised. Do not burst blisters. Do not give
the victim anything to drink. Monitor their vital functions. CALL THE FIRE BRIGADE.
ELECTROCUTION
Cut the electrical supply by unplugging the equipment. If necessary, switch off the current.
Taking steps to properly insulate yourself first, release the victim and remove them from all
contact with any conductor. CALL the doctor, even in cases that do not appear to be serious.
POISONING
Determine the cause of poisoning. While waiting for the doctor, lie the victim on their side. Don’t
give them anything to swallow and TELEPHONE THE NEAREST POISON ADVICE CENTRE. In case
of convulsions, place a wrapped hard item in the victim’s mouth to avoid suffocation.
SNAKE BITE
Calm and reassure the patient. Lie the victim on their back, their chin on their chest, and tell
them not to move under any circumstances. Tie a band fairly tightly between the bite and the
heart. Inject an anti-venom serum. CALL THE DOCTOR.

PIQÛRES D’INSECTE (abeille, frelon, guêpe,…)
Retirer délicatement le dard. Nettoyer et désinfecter la piqûre de la même façon qu’une plaie.
En cas d’allergie, de malaise, de gonflement local important, et de piqûre dans la bouche ou la
gorge, APPELER LE MÉDECIN.
PLAIES
Rincer la plaie sous l’eau en vérifiant qu’il ne reste pas de corps étrangers. Désinfecter la plaie
avec un antiseptique et la recouvrir d’un pansement. En cas d’infection (rougeur, douleur,
fièvre) APPELER LE MÉDECIN. Si la plaie est profonde, ne pas la désinfecter et ne jamais
essayer de retirer le corps étranger. Appliquer une compresse stérile, appuyer et fixer le
pansement avec une bande bien serrée. APPELER LE MÉDECIN.
Si la plaie saigne abondamment, Comprimer immédiatement la plaie avec la paume de la main,
en se protégeant à l'aide d'un gant, d'un film plastique ou d'un tampon, Allonger la victime,
ALERTER LES SECOURS, reprendre la compression manuelle jusqu’à l’arriver des secours.
SAIGNEMENT DE NEZ
Tenir la tête du patient droite et lui comprimer le haut de la narine qui saigne. Si le saignement
persiste, APPELER UN MÉDECIN
TÉTANIE
Une crise de tétanie est une suite de contractions musculaires spasmodiques.
Eloigner l’entourage. Rassurer le malade et le faire respirer lentement et amplement. Si la
