Thank you for purchasing the DVD-ROM Drive Pack for the Panasonic CF-37 notebook
computer series.
When mounted in the multimedia pocket of the computer in place of a CD-ROM drive, this
product functions as an internal DVD-ROM drive. Store this manual in a safe place after
reading it.

Installing the SMI VPM driver "Reference Manual"
# The region code has been set to the following:

Supplementary instructions for the Reference Manual
This section explains the case where the operation of computer differs from "CD-ROM/
DVD-ROM drive" in the Reference Manual.
• In "Software Preparation (first time only)", the name of
changed as following.

• Replace "Power-saving mode" for the following.
Power-saving mode
If the CD-ROM/DVD-ROM drive has not been accessed within 30 seconds (in the case
of CD-ROM drive) or 90 seconds (in the case of DVD-ROM drive), the drive motor will
automatically shut down to reduce the power consumption. When the CD-ROM drive is
accessed once again, the power of the drive motor is turned on. However, approximately
30 seconds arc required until data is actually read from the disc.
The following procedure is needed, (first time only)
1 Select [Start] - [Settings] - [Control Panel] - [System] - [Hardware] - [Device Manager].
2 Select [Primary IDE Channel] in [IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers],
3 Select [Advanced Settings], and set [Transfer Mode] in [Device 1] to [DMA if available].
