Programmable HMI Indicator/Controller
Dual Channel Analog Input Card with
Thermocouple Input Installation Instructions
Option PN 87697
The analog input option, when installed in the programmable HMI indicator (software version 2.05 or later),
supports industry standard voltage and current input ranges, thermocouple inputs, and includes an onboard
temperature sensor for monitoring the internal operating temperature of the
920i
.
Thermocouples are the most widely used temperature sensors in industrial applications. The
920i
analog input
option supports types E, J, K, N, and T thermocouples only.
Analog Input Card Installation
Use the following procedure to install the analog input card in indicators:
1. Disconnect indicator from power source.
Disconnect power before removing
indicator backplate.
2. Place indicator face-down on an antistatic work
mat. Remove screws that hold the backplate to
the enclosure body and remove backplate.
Use a wrist strap to ground yourself and
protect components from electrostatic
discharge (ESD) when working inside the
indicator enclosure.
3. Carefully align the large option card connector
with connector J5 or J6 on the CPU board. See
Figure 1. Press down to seat the option card in
the CPU board connector.

4. Use the captive screws provided in the option kit
to secure the other end of the option card to the
threaded standoffs on the CPU board.
5. To attach the cable to the analog input card,
route the cable through the cord grip closest to
the installed option card and if available,
connect the shield wire to the ground stud on the
enclosure using the enclosed grounding clamp
and captive screws included in the parts kit. See
Figure 3 on page 2.
See the
920i
