Chapter 3
Operating Instructions
This chapter provides information for on-site requirements,
unpacking, inspection, and preparing the equipment for use.
Site and
Shelter
Requirements
The Model 8329-300 Attenuator should be operated in a dry,
dust, and vibration free environment. The ambient tempera-
ture range should remain between -40°C and +45°C (-40°F
and +113°F) for proper operation. Allow at least 12"
(300mm) of clearance around the unit, 6" (150mm) if it is
equipped with a blower, to permit unimpeded access of con-
vection air currents for adequate heat dissipation. To permit
the shortest possible cable length, place the attenuator as
close as possible to the transmitting equipment.
Unpacking
and
Inspection
Follow the steps below when unpacking the equipment.
1. Inspect the shipping container for
signs of damage. If damage is noticed,
do not unpack the equipment. Immedi-
ately notify the shipping carrier and
Bird Electronic Corporation of the
damage.
2. If the shipping container is not dam-
aged, unpack the unit. Save all ship-
ping materials for repackaging.
3. Inspect all components for visual signs
of damage. Immediately notify the
shipping carrier and Bird Electronic
Corporation of equipment damage or
missing parts.
