Introduction

The Remote Sense PRM evaluation boards described in this document are designed
to use with the PRM family of PRM regulators and demonstrate the benefits of
the Factorized Power Architecture

. These evaluation boards are not designed for

installation in end user equipment. The system demonstrates the use of a PRM
(the pre-regulator module) and a VTM (the current multiplier or the voltage
transformation module) for general laboratory evaluation only.

IMPORTANT NOTICE:

Be sure to read this design guide manual thoroughly before using this product.

Pay attention to all cautions and warnings.
This user guide is not comprehensive and is not substitute for common sense and
good practice. For example:

n

When testing electronic product always use approved safety glasses.

n

Provide a strain relief for wires and place the system on the bench in such a way as

to prevent accidental displacement from bench top.

n

Remove the power and use caution when connecting and disconnecting test probes

and interface lines to avoid unintentional short circuits and contact with

hot surfaces.

n

Never use a jumper in place of the fuse. Replace the fuse only with its equivalent

type and rating.

n

Never attempt to disconnect the evaluation board from a VTM

®

evaluation

board while power is applied. This system is not designed to demonstrate the hot
plug capability.
