5.5.3.
EtherCAT Communication (J2)
To use EtherCAT and Ethernet communication with the Gold Panther, it is required to use an
isolation transformer. The most common solution is to use RJ-45 connectors that include
transformer isolation.
This section describes how to connect the Gold Panther’s EtherCAT interface using the above
mentioned connectors.
Notes for EtherCAT communication:
1.
The EtherCAT IN port can be configured as an Ethernet port for TCP/IP – see the EtherCAT
Manual.
2.
It is recommended to use CAT5e (or higher) cable. Category 5e cable is a high signal integrity
cable with four twisted pairs.
