13. Operator's Troubleshooting
■ Troubleshooting
All of the ac tions de scribed in this chap ter may be
per formed by an MHP15/44 op er a tor, a trained and
qual i fied ser vice tech ni cian is not re quired.
The first col umn, of the fol low ing chart, lists some
com mon prob lems en coun tered by MHP15/44 op -
er a tors.
The sec ond col umn lists some of the causes for
each prob lem. The third col umn lists rem e dies.
Any problem that cannot be fixed by actions
listed below should be referred to a trained
and qualified MHP15/44 service technician.

Problem
Cause
Remedy
Engine will not crank.
1. Flat battery.
Replace / charge battery.
2. Main circuit breaker, in
ground control box, has
tripped..
Reset circuit breaker , then try to start the
engine. If it will not start, refer the problem to
a qualified service technician.
3. Loose battery terminals . Tighten battery leads at battery.
Engine cranks but will
not start.
1. Out of fuel.
Fill the engine with the correct type / grade of
fuel.
2. Fuel tap off.
Locate fuel tap on engine and turn to ON.
Engine runs but no
outrigger function.
1. Leg / boom switch in
lower control box
incorrectly set
Switch to Outriggers to operate outriggers.
Engine runs but no
boom function.
1. Speed control set too
SLOW.
Turn Speed Control C.W. until function
starts.
2. Outriggers not set
correctly.
All outriggers must be set on firm ground
before boom functions will operate.
3. Lack of hydraulic oil.
A. Check hydraulic system for leaks.
B. Top up the oil tank with the correct type
/ grade of hydraulic oil.
Bleed down at platform
inoperative.
1. Flat battery.
A. Charge / replace the battery.
B. Use Manual Bleed Down from lower
station.
