The PowerBook
The computer won’t start.
m The computer may be on, but the screen brightness or contrast may be
turned down. Adjust the brightness and contrast controls.
m The battery may be drained. Plug in the power adapter and then try to turn
on the computer.
m Take out the battery, unplug the power adapter, and use a pen, a paper clip,
or a similar object to press the reset switch (at the back of the computer)
for 10 seconds. Then replace the battery, plug in the power adapter, and
try again.
The computer won’t restart.
Try to restart your computer using one of the following methods. Try them in
the order given.
m Press the Control key, Command (x) key, and Power On button at the same
time.
m Press and release the reset switch on the back of the computer.
You can press the button with a pen, a paper clip, or a similar object.

WARNING
If you are working with a RAM disk, the following methods
of restarting the computer will cause you to lose the contents of the
RAM disk. For this reason, you should periodically save your work to
the computer’s hard disk—not just the RAM disk.
