Problem
Possible cause

Power loss or sudden engine cut-out
Fuel Tank (9) empty
Refill Fuel Tank
Water in the fuel
Drain the fuel system and flush with 2-stroke mix
Air Cleaner (20) clogged
Service Air Cleaner or replace if necessary
Engine will not start
Engine Switch (14) switched off
Switch on Engine Switch
Fuel lines clogged
Clean fuel lines and flush with new 2-stroke mix
Fuel Tank (9) empty
Refill Fuel Tank
Spark Plug (22) defective or wrongly gapped
Refer to ‘Maintaining the spark plug’ and replace Spark Plug if necessary
Engine or carburettor fault
Contact your authorised Silverline service centre to arrange repair
Engine difficult to start
Air Cleaner (20) dirty or clogged
Refer to ‘Maintaining the air cleaner’
Fuel contaminated or impurities in fuel system
Clean fuel lines and flush with new 2-stroke mix
Deposits on the Spark Plug (22) electrodes
Refer to ‘Maintaining the spark plug’
Incorrect use of Choke Lever (10)
Use Choke Lever only if engine is cold
Carburettor or choke mechanism damaged
Contact your authorised Silverline service centre to arrange repair
Engine runs erratically; changing
revolutions
Carburettor fuel/air ratio settings wrong
Adjust carburettor as described in ‘Adjusting the carburettor’
Carburettor defective
Contact your authorised Silverline service centre to arrange repair
Chainsaw does not cut effectively, and
produces fine saw dust
Saw Chain (2) blunt
Sharpen or replace Saw Chain
Chain Oil Reservoir (15) empty
Refill chain oil
Chain oil delivery too low
Increase chain oil delivery as described in ‘Adjusting chain oil delivery’
Chain tensioned incorrectly
Correct chain tension as described in ‘Adjusting chain tension’
If the above troubleshooting solutions fail, contact your dealer or an authorised Silverline service centre
