Overview
Using the Diagnostic Program
The diagnostic program runs diagnostic tests to help you identify problems
on the Asanté 10NIC-PCI adapter.
Power Macintosh Diagnostic Program
To run the diagnostic program, you must first unload the Asanté 10NIC-PCI
adapter’s driver by “deselecting” the Asanté 10NIC-PCI adapter card.
To do this, follow the instructions below.

Open the
Apple
Menu and select
Control Panels
.

Select
AppleTalk
from the Control Panels submenu.
The AppleTalk control panel appears.

Click on the
Connect Via:
drop-down menu.

Select
Printer port
and close the AppleTalk control panel
by clicking on the close box.
A dialog box appears asking whether you want to save
changes.

Click
Save.

Insert the Asanté Driver Disk into the floppy drive and dou-
ble-click the diskette icon to open it. See Figure 3-1 in
Chapter 3.

Double-click the
Power Macintosh
folder icon.

Double-click the
Utility.sea
icon.
You will be asked where to save a
Utility Folder
.

Save the
Utility Folder
to your computer’s hard disk.

After the Utility Folder is “unstuffed”, open the Utility
Folder by double-clicking it.

Double-click the
AsantéNIC-PCI Troubleshooter
icon to
start the program.

Click the
OK button in the Troubleshooter startup screen.
The Troubleshooter loads and displays the main window
with the following tests:

Loopback Test
— verifies the operation of the network
interface circuitry and the adapter by transmitting and
receiving special packets.
