Appendix A: Application Updates

The Application Update feature enables you to update the EVR1500

environmental monitor appliance with the latest version of the system Java

JAR file. To perform this update, you will need an FTP or HTTP (Hypertext

Transfer Protocol) server to store the new file.

To update the JAR fi le:

Verify that the updated JAR fi le is located on an FTP or HTTP server and
determine the exact directory address and fi lename of the fi le.

2. After launching the web GUI, click System - Application Update. The

Application Update window displays.

3. Visit the Avocent web site at http://www.avocent.com/support to obtain the

updated Avocent.JAR fi le.

4. Click the URL fi eld in the Application Update window and type the URL

of the JAR fi le. For example:
FTP://USERID:[email protected]/
EVR1500/Softwaredownloads/Avocent.JAR

NOTE:

You must supply a user ID and password that is valid for the FTP server

on 192.168.1.10.

5. Click

Load button. Wait for a message indicating that the fi le has

downloaded successfully.
