To communicate in I2C you must connect according to the 4 pin connector as shown in the Figure below.

Now the unit will be able to communicate over I 2 C. It uses the same pins as RS-232. Much more detail
on this basic I 2 C function can be found in the I 2 C specification by Phillips.

3.2 General Purpose Outputs
The display has two general purpose outputs, G1 and G2. These are provided to control relays or other
electronic devices. This allows external devices to be turned on or off using the PC or controller and software
commands.
