Hardware options installation 45
To install the component:
1. Power down the server (on page 18 ).
2. Extend the server from the rack (on page 19 ).
3. Remove the access panel (on page 20 ).
4. Remove the air baffle (" Remove and install the air baffle " on page 20 ).
5. Remove the PCI riser board assembly (on page 21 ).
6. Remove the expansion slot cover from the PCI riser board assembly.
IMPORTANT: If the expansion board ships with an extender bracket, remove it from the expansion board
before inserting the board into the expansion slot of the PCI riser board assembly.
7. Install the expansion board into the slot until it seats firmly.
8. Install the PCI riser board assembly (on page 22 ).
IMPORTANT: The server does not power up if the PCI riser board assembly is not seated properly.
NOTE: The same procedures apply for installing an expansion board in PCI expansion slot 1.
9. Connect any internal or external cabling to the expansion boards.
10. Install the air baffle (" Remove and install the air baffle " on page 20 ).
11. Install the access panel (on page 20 ).
12. Slide the server into the rack.
13. Power up the server (on page 18 ).
Installing a PCI-X riser board
1. Power down the server (on page 18 ).
2. Extend the server from the rack (on page 19 ).
3. Remove the access panel (on page 20 ).
4. Remove the air baffle (" Remove and install the air baffle " on page 20 ).
5. Remove the PCI riser board assembly (on page 21 ).
