Managing a vc domain via any vcem web console, Event id 7800 critical alert is not generated – HP OneView for Microsoft System Center User Manual
Page 42
When a static domain IP is configured, any alert raised from a Primary VC module
will have the source IP of the domain IP instead of the Primary module IP
This is expected behavior. When a domain IP is configured the internal Virtual Connect domain
implementation overrides the primary IP with the domain IP. Due to this, when an alert is raised
from a primary module it will have the source IP corresponding to the domain IP.
When an Ethernet/Flex Fabric/FC module's power is switched off its Uplink status
shows “Healthy”, but the Port status property shows “Not Linked” in the Ethernet/Flex
Fabric/FC Uplink Ports State view
In the HP Virtual Connect Management Pack each health component’s health status is by default
mapped to “Healthy,” in accordance with other MPs. In this scenario, following the internal VC
domain implementation, the uplink connected to the powered-off module will have Link status
property (set to either "Not-Linked" or "unpopulated") and health status property (set to "unknown").
In the VC MP the health of the uplink port is mapped with the "health status property,” the health
status, therefore, is shown as “Healthy.”
Launch the VCM web console to identify the actual status of the uplink port. Ensure that the
corresponding module is powered on when the Port Status property of the uplink shows “Not
Linked” but the overall health status of the uplink is “Healthy”. Note that Port Status property is not
applicable for an FC module.
When link status is ‘Unpopulated,’ port health status is shown as ‘Warning’ for
Ethernet & FlexFabric Uplink Ports
From VC FW v4.10, when link status is ‘Unpopulated,’ port health status is shown as ‘Warning’
under HP Virtual Connect > Physical Component > Ethernet & FlexFabric Uplink Ports.
Managing a VC domain via any VCEM web console
This feature is not supported in the HP Virtual Connect Management Pack. There are no console
tasks to allow a connection to the HP Virtual Connect Enterprise Manager web console. The HP
Virtual Connect Management Pack will only show to which VCEM web console the domain is
connected, and whether it is locked by the Enterprise Manager. In the Domain State view find the
properties Enterprise Manager and Enterprise Manager Lock State to see the IP address of the
Enterprise Manager and the lock status.
VC event IDs 7500, 7800 doesn’t show VC uplink port as per VCM
VC event IDs 7500, 7800 use the port index property, which is an internal port mapping defined
for VC SNMP trap processing. Based on the VC module IP received on the trap, launch the Virtual
Connect Manager to get more information on failed uplink ports.
Event ID 7800 critical alert is not generated
When an FC uplink is disconnected or restored, no critical event is generated; instead, SCOM
reports Event ID 7800 with Warning severity.
Both event IDs 7500 and 7800 are raised when an Ethernet or FC uplink is
disconnected from VC Flex Fabric Module
When an Ethernet or FC uplink is removed or restored from a Flex Fabric module, both event IDs
7500 and 7800 are reported on the SCOM console. This is a design behavior that might be
changed in a future VC management pack version.
