6 Cnt Ac-J Z configuration operations
This chapter provides instructions for configuring Continuous Access Journal Z.
Configuration workflow
Setup for Continuous Access Journal Z using Remote Web Console consist of the following
operations. You must have Storage Administrator (Remote Copy) role to perform Continuous Access
Journal Z operations.
1.
Navigate to Remote Web Console.
2.
Define the fibre-channel port attributes. See
“Defining fibre-channel port attributes ” (page 61)
,
below.
3.
Set up remote paths between the primary and secondary systems. See
and secondary systems for Cnt Ac-J Z ” (page 62)
4.
Register journal volumes in a journal. See
“Creating journals and adding journal volumes ”
5.
Assign an MP Blade to a journal. See
“Assigning an MP blade to a journal” (page 67)
Before the initial copy, you may also want to add more remote paths. See
. You can also specify the number of volumes to copy at one time. For
information, see
“Changing number of copies allowed per initial copy operation” (page 90)
.
Be sure to check the prerequisites for each procedure. Some tasks are performed from both primary
and secondary systems. Other tasks are performed from one or the other.
Defining fibre-channel port attributes
Initiator, and RCU target ports must be set up on the primary and secondary systems for Continuous
Access Journal Z command and data transfer.
Prerequisite information
•
Before a fiber channel target port can be changed to an initiator port, the following must be
performed:
◦
Disconnect the port from the host.
◦
Release all affected pairs.
◦
Delete all remote paths from the initiator port to the secondary system.
◦
Remove all cables to the port.
•
Before a fiber channel initiator port can be changed to target or RCU target, the following
must be performed:
◦
Release all affected pair.
◦
Delete all remote paths from the initiator port to the secondary system.
◦
After remote paths are deleted, remove the cables connecting the primary system to the
secondary system.
•
Check that the number of hosts connected to a target port is not more that the maximum of
128 to avoid disconnection.
See
“Planning ports for data transfer ” (page 45)
for information on target, initiator, and RCU
target ports and to determine the number of initiator and RCU target ports required by your system.
Procedure 5 To define port attributes
1.
In the Storage System tree, click Ports/Host Groups.
