4 Performing Compatible PAV Operations
After you have prepared for Compatible PAV operations as described starting in “Preparing for
Compatible PAV Operations” (page 15) , you are ready to start performing Compatible PAV
operations on the storage system. Compatible PAV operations include:

Using the Compatible PAV interface in the Remote Web Console (see “Using the Compatible
PAV window” (page 24) )
•
Assigning, canceling, and migrating aliases (see “Assigning, Canceling, and Migrating
Aliases” (page 30) )
•
Defining the storage system devices to the host system (see “Considerations for Defining the
Storage System Devices to the Host System” (page 34) )
“Monitoring Compatible PAV Activities” (page 38) provides information on monitoring Compatible
PAV activities on the storage system.
“Troubleshooting” (page 48) provides troubleshooting information for storage system Compatible
PAV operations.
Appendix A provides sample instructions for using HCD to define storage system logical control
units and Compatible PAV devices and view WLMPAV parameters.
Appendix B provides instructions for viewing and changing the WLM PAV settings.
Using the Compatible PAV window
The Compatible PAV window (see Figure 10 (page 25) ) displays the Compatible PAV information
for the connected storage system and provides access to all Compatible PAV operations. To open
the Compatible PAV window, connect to the desired storage system, select the Mainframe
Connection menu in the Remote Web Console main window and then select the Compatible PAV
tab see
