Image Brightness (Exposure Compensation)

Changing the Metering Method
Adjust the metering method (how brightness is measured) to suit shooting
conditions as follows.
z z Press the < > button, choose the
desired option (either press the < q>
buttons or turn the < 7> dial), and then
press the < > button again.
X X The option you configured is now
displayed.
Evaluative
For typical shooting conditions, including backlit shots.
Automatically adjusts exposure to match the shooting conditions.
Center
Weighted Avg.
Determines the average brightness of light across the entire
image area, calculated by treating brightness in the central area
as more important.
Spot
Metering restricted to within the [ ] (Spot AE Point frame).
You can also link the Spot AE Point frame to the AF frame (see
below).
