network.
Security Mode: This must be set to the same security mode that is used by the
connecting device. The Medialink router must have the same Security Mode, Algorithm
or Encryption Mode and Key as the wireless device. These will automatically adjust to
your connecting network’s settings.
How to use Range Extender Mode to create a Wireless Access Point
and Bridge from your existing wireless network:
LAN IP Address: First make sure the LAN IP Address of your Medialink router is on a
different network segment than your existing wireless network.
If the LAN IP Address of your existing wireless router or ISP
’s wireless device is
192.168.0.1 then the LAN IP Address of your Medialink router must be
192.168.XXX.Y
YY where XXX does not equal “0”. YYY can be anything from 1~254.
For example:
If
Existing Wireless Router’s LAN IP – 192.168.0.1
Then
Medialink Wireless Router’s LAN IP – 192.168.8.1 will work.
And
Medialink Wireless Router’s LAN IP – 192.168.0.2 will not work.
The LAN IP of your Medialink Router
can be set in “Advanced Settings” > “LAN Settings”
Using Two Medialink Routers: If your primary wireless network is another Medialink
router you will need to change the IP Address of this second Medialink router to
192.168.XXX.1 where XXX does not equal 8. (ie: 192.168.2.1 would be an acceptable
address since it is different than 192.168.8.1)
