4. Introduction
The Farm Hand Heat Zone Controller is a four stage environmental controller intended for temperature
control of poultry houses equipped with heaters that will operate from either 24 VAC or 120 VAC
ignition. The examples used in this manual show HSI and Zone brooders, although the Heat Zone
controller is not limited to these models.
A typical installation of the Farm Hand Heat Zone controller that can control up to four brooder heat
zones is illustrated below. This example shows half house brooding with eight brooders in each of the
four Heat Zones. Temperature sensors are placed in the center area of each zone. As noted below
Sensor 1 should be placed in the center of Zone 1, Sensor 2 in the center of Zone 2, etc. The Farm
Hand Heat Zone controller monitors the temperature of each zone and controls the ignition of the
brooders to maintain each zone temperature within the limits as established by the user. The Zone
controller can be used in conjunction with the Vent Master 24 or be connected to the Hired Hand Farm
Manager network.
