Relative opacity measurement
DIN 53146 defines the opacity of paper as the relation of the reflectance R
o
of a single sheet
on a black backing to the reflectance R
∞
of the same sheet on a pile of identical sheets.
• Select item [colour difference] in the main configuration menu [colour difference] and
confirm with ok. The display now shows a choice of colour systems for difference
measurement (see page 10).
• To highlight option [rel. Opacity] press the Ø key and confirm with ok. Now the
highlighted colour system is selected.
• Go
for
ΔC to select colour difference
measurement.
• Place
spectro-color
®
in vertical position on
the sample and measure the reflectance R
∞
of a single sheet on a pile of identical
sheets as a reference.
• Next measure the reflectance R
o
of the
same sheet on a black backing.
C3.5 Transparency
measurement
Transparency T is a measure of the light transmission of a sheet of paper according to DIN
53147.
• Select item [colour difference] in the main configuration menu [colour difference] and
confirm with ok . The display now shows a choice of colour systems for difference
measurement (see page 10).
• To highlight option [transparency] press the Ø key and confirm with ok . Now the
highlighted colour system is selected.
• Go
for
ΔC to select colour difference
measurement.
• Place
spectro-color
®
in vertical position on
the sample and measure the reflectance R
W
of a single sheet on white backing (white
calibration standard) as a reference.
• Next measure the reflectance R
o
of the
same sheet on a black backing.
