6.0 Installing the Cold Weather Kit
The MPS48-12 Cold Weather Kit for streetlight applications (Alpha P/N 745-932-20) provides
extended battery backup runtimes in cold weather environments. The kit contains an insulated
battery box, two battery heater mats, wire kit, and mounting hardware.
6.1 Installing the Battery Heater Mats
1. Loosen and move the battery retaining brackets to the side of the battery trays.
2. Place a battery heater mat on the upper and lower shelves.
3. Verify the input voltage on the power module (120/240V) and select the appropriate
battery heater mat wire kit. The kits are labelled for identifi cation.
4. Connect the wire kit leads labelled “upper” and “lower” to their respective battery heater
mats (route the leads through the channel in the center of the battery shelf.
5. Connect the remaining lead to the “Battery Heater Mat” connection on the power module.
