Installation
CAUTION: Installation of the CIA112 must only be carried out by qualified
technicians.
This section offers step-by-step instructions for installing the CIA112. An Application Diagram is
provided on page 6, and Front and Rear Panel Connector and Control Diagrams are on page 7.
Note: Read the instructions carefully before initiating the installation procedure. Before you begin,
make sure that there is no power connected to the system, and that all the power buttons are off.
1. Install the IN9161 / IN9162 3-Gang Junction Box (or the IN9183 Wall Mounting Bracket)
in accordance with standards set forth in the National Electrical Code. Secure the junction
box with nails (2 places minimum) if mounting to a wooden stud, or self-tapping screws when
attaching to a metal stud. The CIA112 can also be installed in an existing 3-gang junction box
(a Dimensions Diagram is provided on page 15). Run the video coax, accessory and stereo
audio cables (if applicable) to the interface.
2. Set the Dipswitches as appropriate for your installation (see page 9 for more details). The
CIA112 factory default output format is RGBHV. If your display device, routing system, or
cabling require a different format, use the dipswitches to change the output signal to RGBS or
RGsB as necessary. For best results with high-resolution data projectors / presentation monitors,
refer to the Optimal Settings for LCD / DMD / D-ILA / Plasma Displays Section on page 9.
3. Terminate any Audio, Video and Control Cables to the backside of the A/V connector
modules as required by your installation (a complete list of available modules is provided on
pages 13 and 14). For applications that do not require any A/V connector modules, use the
IN9369QB / IN9369QW Quad Size Blank Plate (included).
4. Using the IN9334 3/32” Allen Wrench (included), attach the modular connector plate(s) to
the front panel of the CIA112, making sure that none of the cables are pinched or damaged.
5. Connect the CIA112 Video Output (5 BNC connectors) to the data display device’s RGB
input, using three, four, or five high-resolution BNC cables or a multi-conductor RGBHV,
RGBS, or RGB "snake". The IN7000 Series, IN7200 Series, IN7300 Series and IN7400P
Series high-resolution cables are well suited for this purpose. All CIA111, CIA112 and
CIA114 Series Interfaces feature five (5) BNC pigtail connectors. The wires are color coded
as follows:
Wire:
Signal:
Red
Red
Green Green
Blue Blue
Yellow
Horizontal Sync / Composite Sync
Black
Vertical Sync
Take care while making connections to ensure that the red output is connected to the red
input, green output to the green input, etc.
