Chapter : Setting up your NAS
2.1.4 Connecting your NAS to a Local Area Network (LAN)
Connect your NAS to a LAN to share your folders and USB .0 printer with the LAN clients.
To connect your NAS to a network:
1. Connect one end of the supplied RJ-45 cable to the Gigabit LAN port at the back of
your NAS.
. Connect the other end of the RJ-45 cable to a wall LAN jack, or a LAN port on a router
or switch.

Installing the software
Install the utilities from the bundled Support CD. These utilities help you manage your
NAS and back up your data.
To install the utilities from the Support CD:
1. Place the Support CD into your computer’s optical drive.
. From the autorun screen, click Install ASUS NAS Utilities.
. Follow the onscreen instructions to complete the installation.
NOTE:
If Autorun is not enabled on your computer, double-click setup.exe from the root directory
of the Support CD to launch the above screen.
NOTE:
You may connect your NAS directly to a computer and use it as an external HDD for
expanding your computer’s storage capacity. See
Chapter 8: FAQ (Frequently Asked
Questions) for details.
