6. Align the reinforcement plate so the slight bend coincides with
the bend in the hinge plate and the bolt holes line up. Weld
around the perimeter and fill-weld the center hole. Next, grind
the welds smooth and prep the surface for paint.
7. Mask off the forward half of the hinge and utilize the proper
Mopar color for your vehicle. Apply 4-5 ‘light’ coats
allowing the paint to ‘flash’ between coats. (available at your
local Mopar parts counter)
8. After the paint has sufficiently dried, reinstall the
modified hinges, cowl and align the hood for the next
step in the installation process. The hinge holes on the
body side are oversized so you have some adjustability
to align the hood with the cowl.
BRACKET INSTALLATION - Phase 1: Installing Brackets onto Jeep
1. Start by removing the two Torx head bolts from one hood hinge. These will be tough to break loose the very first
time, so ensure you have the proper size Torx and that it is in good condition so you do not damage the screw heads.
Hold your ratchet head down on the bolt firmly when loosening.
2. The brackets are not identical so if you view them from the ends on a level plane you should be able to see that both
the center threaded mounts are slightly offset to either side. Place the brackets onto the hinges so that the threaded
mounts are in the widest position and lightly bolt into place using the new supplied hardware.
3. Repeat steps 1 & 2 for the other hinge.
4. During this process, be mindful of your hoods’ front-to-back alignment. Position it accordingly before final
tightening.
5. Once you are satisfied with the hoods’ positioning, complete the installation by securely tightening the bolts.
