WARNING!
Do not cover these plates for any reason and
immediately replace them if they are damaged.
WARNING!
While working it is advisable to wear ear
protection (headphones, etc.).
BEFORE START-UP
If necessary, open the driver's seat hood (8, Fig. F) by
lifting it, and refuel the machine through the fi ller plug
(46, Fig. E).
CAUTION!
Do not fi ll the fuel tank to the top, but leave at
least 4 cm from the fi ller neck to allow the fuel
to expand.
Check that there are no open lids/hoods and that the
machine is in normal operating conditions.
DIESEL ENGINE START AND STOP
Diesel engine start
Sit on the driver's seat (27, Fig. B-C) and check that the
parking brake (21) is engaged.
With the lever (28, Fig. B-C), adjust the seat for a
comfortable position.
Adjust the rearview mirrors for a better visibility (*).
Turn the engine throttle lever (19, Fig. B - 29, Fig. C) to
idle.
Check that the brooms are lifted, otherwise keep into
consideration that, when starting the engine, broom

Insert the ignition key (17, Fig. B-C), turn it clockwise and
hold it in the fi rst position. The following warning lights
and indicators turn on:
Diesel engine glow plug pre-heating warning light (9,
Fig. B-C)
Charged battery indicator light (7, Fig. B-C)
Engine oil pressure warning light (11, Fig. B-C)
Parking brake warning light (8, Fig. B-C)
When the glow plug pre-heating warning light (9, Fig. B-
C) turns off, turn the ignition key clockwise, to the end of
stroke, and then release it when the engine starts.
CAUTION!
When starting the engine, do not keep the
ignition key in cranking position too long
(maximum 20 seconds) to avoid damaging
the starter. If the engine does not start, wait a
minute before trying again.
Before trying to start the engine again, turn
the ignition key counterclockwise, to the initial
position.
If the engine does not start after two attempts,
do not persist, ask for help from the person
responsible for the machine.
CAUTION!
When starting the engine with the ignition key
(17, Fig. B-C) do not press the drive pedal (25),
because the machine is equipped with a safety
system that does not allow for engine start-up
in this condition.
Make sure that all the warning lights are off when the
engine is running.
With the throttle lever (19, Fig. B - 29, Fig. C) in an
intermediate position, let the engine run for a few
minutes to allow it to warm up, especially when the
outside air temperature is low.
Diesel engine stop
Turn the engine throttle lever (19, Fig. B - 29, Fig. C) to
idle, and hold it in this position for a few minutes to let the
system stabilize.
Turn the ignition key (17, Fig. B-C) counterclockwise, to
the end of stroke, then remove it.
Engage the parking brake with the lever (21, Fig. B-C).
