SNMP or Telnet Connection Examples
The DSU/CSU can be connected to an SNMP or Telnet system in a number of
ways. Some examples include:
T Directly connecting the COM port to the SNMP or Telnet device ( Figure 2-4,
Direct Connection ).
T Connecting the COM port to a network device (e.g., a router) ( Figure 2-5,
Connection through a Router ).
T Connecting the COM port or the AUX port to an external LAN Adapter for
Ethernet connectivity (
Figure 2-6, Connection through a LAN Adapter ).
T Daisy chaining the COM port of one device to the AUX port of the other
(
Figure 2-7, LAN Adapter and Daisy Chaining ).
T Remotely accessing the DSU/CSU through the Facility Data Link (FDL) or the
synchronous data port’s Embedded Data Link (EDL) (
Figure 2-8, Remote
Access through FDL/EDL ).
NOTE:
EDL is only available on 2-port and 4-port DSU/CSUs.
