Using menus to play MP3

[CD]
pYou can play CD-R, CD-RW discs which contain MP3 files that

have been recorded on a computer.

pYou may not be able to playback MP3 files which contain still pictures.

Preparation
pPress [THEATER] to switch the remote control to operate this unit.
pPress [DRIVE SELECT] to select the DVD drive.
pInsert a disc (

➡ page 12).

Press [DIRECT NAVIGATOR].

pFiles are treated as tracks and folders are treated as groups.

Press [

, ] to select the track and

press [ENTER].

Play starts on the selected track.
p“” indicates the track currently playing.
pYou can also select the track with the numbered buttons.

e.g., 5:

[0]

➡ [0] ➡ [5]

15: [0]

➡ [1] ➡ [5]

To show other pages
Press [

] (Previous) or [] (Next).

wUsing the tree screen to find a group
1 Press [

] while a track is highlighted to

display the tree screen.

2 Press [

, ] to select a group and press

[ENTER].

The file list for the group appears.

To stop playing
Press [

w].

To return to the previous screen
Press [RETURN].

To switch to Pictures menu
(

➡ page 18, “To select Pictures Menu”)

To exit the screen
Press [DIRECT NAVIGATOR].

Regarding MP3
pCompatible formats: ISO9660 level 1 or 2 (except for extended

formats) and Joliet

pFile format: MP3

Files must have the extension “.mp3” or “.MP3”.

pMaximum number of files (tracks) and folders (groups)

recognizable: 999* files (tracks) and 99 folders (groups)
(including the root folder)
* Total number for all the MP3, JPEG and other type of files

pBit rates: 32 kbps to 320 kbps
pSampling frequency: 16 kHz/22.05 kHz/24 kHz/32 kHz/44.1

kHz/48 kHz

pThis unit is compatible with multi-session but reading or play of

the disc may take time if there are a lot of sessions.

pOperation may take time to complete when there are many files

(tracks) and/or folders (groups) and some may not display or be
playable.

pEnglish alphabet and Arabic numerals are displayed correctly.

Other characters may not be displayed correctly.

pThe display order on this unit may differ from how the order is

displayed on a computer.

pDepending on how you create the disc (writing software), files

(tracks) and folders (groups) may not play in the order you
numbered them.

pThis unit is not compatible with packet-writing format.
pDepending on the recording, some items may not be playable.
pThis unit is not compatible with ID3 tags.
pIf there is a large amount of still picture data etc. within a MP3

file, play may not be possible.

pYou can play MP3 on this unit by making folders as shown

below. However, depending on how you create the disc (writing
software), play may not be in the order you numbered the
folders.

To display pictures,
please select Pictures Menu from FUNCTIONS.
