I cannot playback (Super)
Video CDs

It is possible that this (Super) Video CD contains a menu and the 'PBC' is switched off. You
can see this in status field 'PBCOFF'. To activate this function, proceed as follows:

Press SYSTEM-MENU while the (Super) Video-CD is inserted.

Select line 'Features' using
B or A and confirm with C .

Select 'On' in line 'PBC' using
B or A .

Confirm with OK and end with SYSTEM-MENU .
Poor playback on DVD
recorder (distorted
picture/distorted sound)

Your TV is not properly adjusted.
b
The disc is dirty. Clean the disc.
b
Sometimes the picture may be temporarily distorted. This is not a defect of your DVD
recorder.
No recording possible.
b
The TV channel you want to record is not stored or you selected the wrong program
number: Check TV channels stored.
b
Disc is write-protected (cannot be recorded on). Remove write-protection or change disc.

A finalized DVD+R disc has been inserted. Change disc.
Programmed recording
does not work.

You have programmed the wrong time or date. Check time/date.

You have not set the TIMER properly. Check the programmed recordings.

A locked disc inserted. Remove disc lock.

A finalized DVD+R has been inserted. Change disc.
The wrong TV channel was
entered after you
programmed a recording
using the VCR Plus+
system.

Enter the PlusCode programming number of the desired TV channel.

Confirm with OK .

Check the channel number in the 'Ch.' input field

If this does not correspond to the desired TV channel, select the channel field and
change the channel number.

Confirm with OK .
There is picture or sound
interference with the TV
reception.

During playback via the internal TV tuner ( MONITOR button), switch to recording mode '
HQ'
by pressing REC MODE . This will give you the best possible picture quality.
Before making the recording, select the recording mode as described in 'Selecting the
recording mode (quality)' .

Change channels at the TV. Press CH- or CH+ to go to channel 4, 3, or Audio/Video In, EXT
IN, ANT IN, etc.

Have your antenna or Cable TV signal checked.
Distorted sound coming
from a connected hi fi
amplifier
b
The DVD recorder is connected to the 'Phono-input' of your amplifier. This jack is provided
only for record players without a preamplifier. Connect to a different audio input.
The picture is distorted or
black and white during
playback.
b
The TV system of the disc does not match that of your TV (PAL/NTSC).
b
The recording can be made in color only when the TV channels or the connected additional
device sends a color signal. Black-and-white signals without color information (color
subcarriers) cannot be recorded in color.
No sound signal at the
digital output

Check whether the sound settings match the selected inputs and connected additional devices.
