V-Chip Subratings
You can select subratings for TV-Y7, TV-PG, TV-14, or
TV-MA.
● Before you begin, press SELECT to put the TV/VCR/DVD
in TV/VCR mode. The red VCR/TV light will appear on
the front of the TV/VCR/DVD.
1 Press SETUP.
2 Press ▲ or ▼ to select V-CHIP SET UP.
Press B.

3 Press the Number buttons to enter the access
code. The default code is 0000 (if you have not set
up your own code yet).
4 Press ▲ or ▼ to select TV RATING. Press B.

● When you select TV-Y7:
Press ▲ or ▼ to select FV (Fantasy Violence, vio-
lence that seems realistic to young children). Then,
press B to select BLOCK or VIEW.
● When you select TV-PG, TV-14, or TV-MA:
Press ▲ or ▼ to select “D” (Suggestive Dialog),
“L” (Coarse Language), “S” (Sexual Situation), or
“V” (Violence). Then, press B repeatedly to select
BLOCK or VIEW.
5 Press L to select the rating you wish to adjust.
Then, press B twice to go to its subratings.

6 Press SETUP to save your settings.
• When you select TV-MA, “D” for
dialog is not an available subrat-
ing.
• Blocked subratings will appear
beside the rating category in the
TV ratings menu.
• To change the rating, you must
select a TV channel that is not
protected. If PROTECTED
appears on the screen, change
to a channel that is not protect-
ed (blocked).
• You cannot BLOCK a subrating
(D, L, S, or V) if the main cate-
gory is set to VIEW. However,
you can set a subrating to VIEW
even when the main category is
set to BLOCK.
• Changing the category to BLOCK
or VIEW automatically changes
all its subratings to the same
(BLOCK or VIEW).
