Replacing or adding memory

The Synchronous Dynamic Random Access Memory (SDRAM) Dual Inline
Memory Modules (DIMMs) supported by your system board conform to the
following standards:

64 MB, 128 MB, 256 MB, and 512 MB DIMMs.

PC133-compliant, registered, parity, ECC SDRAM.

Memory is installed in four banks (slots) on the system board. When you are
selecting and installing DIMMs, keep the following in mind:

Registered DIMMs should not be combined with unbuffered DIMMs.

No jumper settings are required for the memory size or type because the
BIOS automatically detects this information.

2 GB maximum system memory.

To replace DIMMs:

1

Turn off the system and disconnect the power cord, modem cord (if
installed), and all external peripheral devices.

2

Remove the left side cover panel. (See “Removing the side cover” on
page 18 a
nd “Preventing static electricity discharge” on page 15.)

3

Pull open the socket latches on each side of the DIMM socket, then lift
the DIMM out of the socket. Store the DIMM in an antistatic container.
