Emptying Drum

empty the collection drum when it is no more
than

full. if the drum is overfilled, dust will be

sucked into the inlet cylinder and pass through to
the filter.

how quickly the drum will fill up is based on the
type of work being done at that time.

a machine that produces fine dust, such as a
sander or table saw, will slowly fill the drum.

a machine that produces curly shavings, such as
a planer or jointer, will quickly fill the drum.

in the beginning, check your drum regularly to get
an idea of how often it needs to be emptied.

Cleaning filter

your new cyclone dust collector has a gentle
brush system inside the filter for cleaning. this
brush system is controlled by the red and black
handles shown in

figure 58.

to clean the filter, simply pull the red handle down
all the way, then pull the black handle down and
hook it in place.

always make sure to leave the red handle in the
up position to ensure that the brushes return to
their proper position and do not restrict the filter.

Rinsing filter

For a thorough cleaning, the filter can be removed
and rinsed off. however, make sure to clean the
filter with the brush system first. allow the filter to
air dry, but never leave the filter in the sun to dry
or it could become damaged. refer to
