The HiSpeed switch is shipped standard from the factory with the following
system configurations.
❒ Memory:
8 Mbytes (DRAM)
❒ Boot Prom:
512 Kbytes (EPROM)
— Initialization boot code
— Power-On Self-Test (POST)
— TFTP/FTP boot code
— Modem remote control
— Routines to load and execute compressed code
❒ Flash: 4 Mbytes
— compressed system code
— compressed systems diagnostics
— system configuration data
— system traces (for debugging purposes)
Factory Switch Settings
The HiSpeed switches are shipped from the factory without any IP configurations
to the switch. To perform any routing and network management to the switch, you
must assign an IP address to a VLAN on the switch. Otherwise, the switch will
only provide core switching functionality. The factory default settings on the
switch are configured as follows:
❒ Console speed is 9600
❒ Login password is switch
❒ All ports belong to VLAN 1
❒ RIP is silent
❒ Ethernet statistics are disabled
