Controller Installation Procedures
This section describes how to install the Mylex eXtremeRAID 2000
controller.

Caution
Anti-static handling procedures are required. Leave
the controller in its anti-static bag until it is time to
plug the controller into the PCI slot. The use of a
grounded wrist strap and other ESD protective
measures are highly recommended.

WARNING
Disconnect the system from the electrical wall
outlet before opening the system cabinet. Working
with the system covers off and power applied to the
system can result in shock and serious injury.
To install the controller, follow these steps:
1. Power off the system and all enclosures.
2. Disconnect system and enclosure power cords.
3. Remove the covers or the cabinet as necessary to access the I/O slots on
the system board.
4. Choose a vacant PCI slot and remove the metal cover plate from the
slot’s access port (usually at the back of the cabinet). Save the retaining
screw.
