Controller Features
Features of the eXtremeRAID 2000 controller include:
• Up to four Ultra 160 SCSI channels that support RAID levels 0, 1, 3, 5,
0+1, 10, 30, and 50.
• Low-Voltage Differential (LVD) Wide Ultra 160 SCSI (Fast 80). The
controller also supports single-ended, SCSI 1, SCSI 2, Ultra SCSI, and
Ultra2 devices.
• High performance 233 MHz RISC processor and 32 MB, 64 MB,
128 MB, or 256 MB SDRAM cache (with ECC) on a full-length,
64-bit PCI version 2.2 standard controller.
• Memory module (BDIMM) with memory, battery backup, and circuitry
for monitoring the battery condition.
• 1 MB, 8-bit flash EEPROM for BIOS and code.
• Built-in configuration utilities (in BIOS).
• Supports controller redundancy using a shared SCSI bus in a clustering
configuration.
• PCI Hot Plug capability allows the eXtremeRAID 2000 to be swapped
with a replacement without powering down the system.
Caution
Be sure the motherboard you are using supports PCI
Hot Plug (PCI 2.2 compliant) before attempting to use
this feature, or serious damage to the controller and/or
the motherboard could result.
• Write-through and write-back cache support.
☛
Note
If the clustering feature is enabled, write-back should
NOT be enabled. However, if clustering is disabled,
the write-back can be either on or off.
Operating System Support
MS-DOS 5.x, 6.x, and above are supported up to an 8 GB volume using
drivers that reside in the eXtremeRAID 2000 BIOS. Many other popular
operating systems are supported using software drivers in the Disk Array
Controller Software Kit that is included with the controller (see the
PCI Disk Array Controller Drivers Installation Guide and User Manual).
