Multi-Destination Mode
In multi-destination mode, hold mode allows you to select more than one MD destination at a
time. In addition, MD selections are retained after a take.
Category Selection
In the NV9000 system, devices are assigned to categories, where the devices within the catego-
ries are either numbered or identified by alphanumeric suffixes. For instance, a category
representing cameras might be CAM and the cameras in the category might be named CAM1,
CAM2, and so on.
NV9642 category buttons can represent either a source category or a destination category (but
not both). When you pressing category buttons to begin device selection, one of two things
occurs:
• The panel displays a list of all devices in that category. If the list has more entries than will fit
on the available buttons, you can scroll through multiple pages of devices using ‘Back’ and
‘Forward’ buttons to find the device you want.
• The panel displays a “suffix page” which contains a keypad containing numerals and possi-
bly alphanumeric suffixes, and perhaps some other functions. By pressing keys of the key-
pad, you can “construct” a device name. Each press of the keypad appends a digit or a suffix
to the category name. The device name appears on the level buttons after you return from
using the keypad.
Suffixes may be numeric or alphanumeric, and up to 4 characters in length. Any device may
have up to 8 suffixes. However, device mnemonics are limited to 8 characters. Therefore, the
usual
— and default — suffixes are just the numerals 0 –9.
Example: you want to select the source device CAM_12 .
1 Press the category button labeled ‘ CAM ’.
The display for this source shows ‘ CAM ’.
2 If you see a list of devices, scroll until you find CAM_12 and press that button.
3 Or if you see a keypad, press ‘ 1 ’ and then press ‘ 2 ’.
4 When you have the desired source selected, press a ‘Back’ button to return to the previous
page.
Buttons
The NV9642 has four classes of button functions:
• Dedicated functions, such as ‘Default State’, ‘Chop’ or ‘Quick Source’.
• Variable functions, such as ‘Category’, ‘Source’, or ‘Destination’. A category button identifies a
specific category. A source button identifies a specific source. A destination button identifies
a specific destination. A button page will usually contain more than one category, source, or
destination button. Often, category lists, source lists, and destination lists span multiple
pages.
• Special functions, such as ‘Navigate’, ‘Global Navigate’, ‘Back’, and ‘Forward’. These functions
allow the panel operator to move from one button page to another.
• System-generated button functions. When you press a category button, the router control
system either (1) generates a list of devices belonging to the category or (2) displays a “suffix
