Problem Solving and Maintenance
This appendix approaches troubleshooting from several directions.
The first section uses a columnar format to match solutions with
problems. Other sections cover beeper error warnings, hexadecimal
data dumping, coding and 7-bit solutions, and specific solutions for
several popular personal computer systems.

Problem
Printer does not print
Solution
Make sure that the printer is turned on
and is on line. Both the POWER and
ON LINE lights should be on.
Make sure that the printer and computer
are connected. Be certain you are using
the correct cable.
If the printer still does not print, try the
self test procedure (see Chapter 1). If the
self test works correctly, the printer is all
right and the problem lies elsewhere. If
the self test doesn’t work, call the toll-free
number for assistance: 1-800-421 -5426.
